This manufacturer, part of a c.£300m turnover group, are looking for a Management Accountant to join their Finance team in Derby. They are looking for an energetic, motivated individual looking to hit the ground running and take on a role that will give you exposure to more interesting areas including financial planning, analysis for projects, cost analysis and stakeholder management which will hold you in good stead for future progression into a Financial Controller position. You'll also be responsible for the usual monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, coordinating the annual audit process, overseeing payroll and preparing financial statements.
This is a great role for a current Management Accountant looking for a step into a team where they can get stuck in to a varied role with study support and future progression potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Management Accounts: Produce monthly management accounts, including variance analysis. Prepare reports on financial performance against budgets and prior periods. Manage VAT returns and take ownership of general ledger and bank reconciliations.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis, recommend adjustments, and monitor operational efficiencies. Report on overhead costs and suggest improvements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Support the creation of financial models and scenario analysis.
- Financial Planning: Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making. Participate in business planning and review meetings.
- Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct financial analysis on various projects as required. Support senior management with data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise with various departments to gather information and provide financial insights. Support external audits and ensure all audit requirements are met.
- Annual Audit: Coordinate and manage the annual audit process. Liaise with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits. Prepare necessary documentation and explanations for auditors.
What Are We Looking For?
- Either part or fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
- Proven experience as a Management Accountant or in a similar role within a fast-paced industry.
- Driven and ambitious, with a motivation to progress your career further.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Intermediate/ Advanced knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUPS, SUMIF, Pivot Tables etc.)
