Assistant Management Accountant | Tamworth | £25,000-£30,000

Macildowie Finance is recruiting a Management Accounting position for a large business in the Tamworth area. The position offers full study support.

The position will allow the successful candidate to take full ownership of one of the business's entire P&L's and offer development through full core accounting exposure, a medium sized and tenured team to learn from and excellent development opportunities. The finance team will be playing an active part in leading and supporting the company in achieving its business objectives and revenue targets by providing key financial insight and control; whilst driving improvements to the operation and financial processes.

So what is the job?

• Produce monthly management accounts and reconciliations for a large group entity and other smaller entities
• Update cash-flow forecasts on a weekly and monthly basis
• Produce VAT returns for review and consolidation
• To review manual payments overheads purchase orders to ensure they are coded accurately for the management accounts, have the correct back up and VAT treatment.
• Produce, along with the finance team, Financial Management Information
• To gain a good level of understanding of the operation of the finance function
• Identify areas where improvements could be made and work with Team Managers to put these into place
• Participate in ad hoc projects e.g reporting improvements, systems improvements
• To review information and reconciliations prepared by the Management Accounts Clerks and to assist with the investigation of reconciling items.
• Complete standardised information packs to assist in preparing statutory accounts and tax computations.
• Provide back up and explanations to the Auditors in a timely manner with guidance from the wider Finance Team.
• To review manual payments overheads purchase orders to ensure they are coded accurately for the management accounts, have the correct back up and VAT treatment.
• Manage and maintain an effective filing system in an agreed format ensuring that filing is completed on a regular basis, so all records are kept up to date and in a neat and logical order.
• To perform a variety of other tasks, as requested by the Finance Director, Financial Controller and wider executive team.

What are you like?

• Mid stage CIMA/ACCA student
• Understanding of financial fundamentals and 2-3 years' experience in Finance
• Good level of Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, Sumifs
• Well organised with excellent attention to detail
• Flexible and able to adapt to different tasks
• Desire to ensure tasks are seen through to completion
• Proactive, challenging nature
• Hold a full driving licence, as some travel may be required between offices
• Team player
