Design Technician

Newark, office based

Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00

Up to £32,000

Macildowie are thrilled to be working with a niche business within the design sector who are looking for a Design Technician to join their team.

About the Role
This is a new full-time position created to support a growing project portfolio and involves close collaboration at stakeholder level. This key technical role includes graphic and drawing support across diverse commissioned projects, along with research and data gathering for Director-prepared reports. You'll manage project documentation, maintain accurate records, and organise information within our filing systems. Working with a small, dynamic team, this role promises variety, autonomy, and a rewarding, fast-paced work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, reporting to a Director, to develop project designs, plans, and drawings
  • Produce detailed construction drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and other technical elements
  • Conduct site visits to collect information and maintain site records as needed
  • Coordinate project documentation, conduct research, support report preparation, and develop project specifications
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and technological advances

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a graphic design assistant, CAD technician, or similar role within landscape projects
  • Proficiency in CAD, AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong technical drawing skills
  • Effective communication and collaborative skills
  • Ability to compile reports and conduct technical research
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations, with a proactive attitude toward learning
  • Experience interpreting and preparing landscape architectural drawings and specifications
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Confidence working independently and building productive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage projects autonomously and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
