Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Macildowie are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner working for a logistics business based in Leicestershire. As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing transportation operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods. If you have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

This is a fully office based role permanent position

Shift Pattern: 07:00-15:00, 09:00-17:00 and 11:00-19:00 alternating each week

THE ROLE & YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Arrange relevant collections, transit routes and deliveries
- Allocation of work to couriers in a fair and transparent manner
- Input event tracking for all bookings and in-transit consignments
- Communicate with drivers, staff and customers to ensure smooth operations
- Provide the Customer with updates on all exceptions or issues
- Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery
- Resolve and report any issues or delays in transportation operations
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including logs and records
- Provide quotes when requested to the relevant Customer
- Monitor the emails for the Service Centre
- Collaborate with other departments to optimise transportation processes
- Work with partners to deliver a seamless, high quality Customer Experience
- Act in accordance with the companies core values of integrity, quality, customer focus and teamwork

EXPERIENCE SOUGHT IN THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

This is an extremely fast paced environment and you must have Transport Planning experience plus the below:

- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly on your feet
- Flexible to support the business during peak periods
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Customer service experience along with an excellent telephone manner (required)
- Previous transport industry experience desirable
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
- Proficient in using transportation management systems/software (desirable) and Microsoft applications
