Strategic Buyer

Salary: £50,000 dependent on experience

Location: Staffordshire

Flexibility: 5 days onsite

This organisation is in search of a Strategic Buyer who will play a crucial role in their supply chain operations, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient supplier performance while managing the entire procurement lifecycle.

Position Overview:

The Strategic Buyer will be responsible for engaging with stakeholders across the organisation to develop and implement business-wide category strategies that deliver cost-effective solutions for operational requirements. This role is essential in providing commercial services related to the acquisition of materials, always with a focus on achieving the lowest total cost.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development & Execution: Formulate and execute sourcing strategies for each category area, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure projects are successfully executed.

Relationship & Business Integration: Collaborate with NPI, Engineering, Operational, and Purchasing Category teams to professionally manage procurement activities.

Teamwork & Self Development: Integrate with Business Unit (BU) operational and pricing teams, driving personal and team development to enhance capabilities.

Supply Base Management & Coordination: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the supply market for each category, highlighting and delivering cost reduction opportunities. Ensure that suppliers understand and align with business requirements.

Stakeholder Engagement: Gain credibility with internal customers, persuading individuals to embrace strategic directions and changes when necessary.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in strategic procurement and category management.

- Strong analytical, negotiation, and vendor management skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

- Proficiency in supply chain software and tools.

- Track record of successfully managing complex procurement projects.

- Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders.

- In-depth market knowledge and understanding of supply base dynamics.
