Semi-Senior Accountant
Job Description
Accounts Semi-Senior | Nottingham | £25,000-£30,000 DOE
Macildowie are delighted to be partnering with an expanding accountancy practice, based in the Nottingham area, who are seeking a talented and intelligent individual to join their team as an Accounts Semi-Senior. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further their career in accountancy and gain valuable experience within a positive and happy workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Develop skills and knowledge base to learn all aspects of an accountancy practice and expected requirements.
- Production of reports to an agreed format which may include (but not limited to) Full Financial Statements. All reports should be checked by Directors prior to issuing.
- Check associated work such as reviewing bookkeeping and payroll, in order to prepare required reports.
- Prepare accounts files, ensuring all checklists and schedules are included and fully cross-referenced.
- Adhere to Accounts Preparation work programmes.
- Prepare points to clear and schedule of information needed from clients.
- Prepare schedule of major points for manager to be made aware of and for client discussion.
- Print off and complete checklists as appropriate.
- Draft all letters and minutes prior to manager review.
- Utilize various computer software programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and provide assistance with more specialist software such as XERO, QUICKBOOKS, and FreeAgent.
- Prepare and review bookkeeping on various client software.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Attend site visits and meetings with the manager and directors as and when required.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role within an accountancy practice in the UK.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with accounting software, particularly XERO, QUICKBOOKS, and FreeAgent.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professionalism and integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information.
- A relevant accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACA and ACCA) is desirable but not essential, as full study support can be provided.
