Job Description

Job Title: Bookkeeper
Location: Corby
Salary: £27,000 to £33,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Type: Permanent

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide clients with accounting and back-office services, including bookkeeping, VAT compliance, and other ad hoc accounting advice.
  • Assist with weekly and monthly work for clients, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Respond to client queries and provide ongoing support, including training and assisting with accounting systems (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Dext, Autoentry).
  • Set up accounting systems for clients, including opening balances, chart of accounts, customers, suppliers, and VAT details.
  • Manage bookkeeping tasks such as processing and recording bank transactions, and preparing purchase, sales, and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare management accounts and financial reports tailored to client needs.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, and notify portfolio holders of any issues.
  • Provide accounting advice to clients and identify any issues with compliance or accounting standards.
  • Liaise with other teams (tax, payroll, etc.) to ensure smooth client service.
  • Assist with year-end accounts preparation and provide supporting schedules for balance sheet items and tax-sensitive profit and loss items.

What We're Looking For:

  • AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong bookkeeping skills with experience in VAT compliance.
  • Proficient in accounting software (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Dext, Autoentry).
  • Good communication skills with the ability to train clients and respond to their needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate work under pressure.
