  • Calculate statutory deductions (Income Tax, NI contributions, pension contributions).
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee pension schemes (Teachers' Pensions, Local Government Pension Schemes), including enrolment and contributions.
  • Conduct payroll audits to ensure data accuracy and adherence to internal/external regulations.
  • Review payroll inputs (salaries, benefits, allowances, deductions) including maternity entitlements.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to maintain accurate employee data.
  • Resolve complex payroll issues and provide guidance to academy staff.
  • Handle year-end payroll processes (P60s, P11Ds) and prepare payslips, P45s, and other statutory documents.
  • Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Support the production of the School Workforce Census and participate in payroll system upgrades.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Payroll Officer or similar role, with expertise in UK payroll.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, statutory deductions, and pension contributions.
  • Ideally a familiarity with the Teachers' Pension Scheme and Local Government Pension Schemes.
  • Ideally a working knowledge with payroll systems, ideally MHR i-Trent.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple payroll cycles.
  • Experience in managing payroll queries and providing excellent customer service.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take on a leadership role in payroll within a dynamic and supportive team. If you meet the criteria above and are eager to contribute to the continued success of this educational institution, we'd love to hear from you!
