Job Purpose:

The Finance Assistant will manage both Purchase and Sales Ledgers, ensuring accurate and efficient transaction processing. Daily banking tasks, month-end responsibilities, and team support are key aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchase Ledger:

  • Process Purchase Orders, match invoices with delivery notes, and resolve disputes.
  • Obtain invoice authorisation and enter into SAP.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and process weekly payment schedules.
  • Maintain excellent supplier relationships.

Sales Ledger:

  • Manage customer accounts and ensure timely invoice processing.
  • Match Sales invoices to orders and handle remittances and disputes.
  • Send monthly statements and maintain strong customer communication.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Oversee online banking, reconciliation, and payment runs.
  • Handle banking and credit card reconciliation.
  • Prepare aged creditor and debtor reports.
  • Update cash flow and reconcile with SAP.
  • Assist with office tasks like answering calls and handling post.

Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end reports and reconciliations.
  • Cover for Head of Finance during absences.
  • Prepare and process payroll for up to 80 employees.
  • Manage employee records and pension submissions.
  • Process Year-end Payroll and VAT returns.
  • Maintain communication with accountants and organise filing systems.

Key Requirements:

  • Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP and Sage experience preferred.
  • Accountancy qualification (minimum AAT Level 2) with 2-3 years of experience.
