Job Purpose:

As the Credit Controller for the Professional Indemnity (PI) Team, the successful candidate will oversee all levels of Broker debt and maintain ledgers so that outstanding premiums and fees are kept to a minimum and within company expectations and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engaging with Brokers and Underwriters to reduce levels of debt and pursue unpaid premiums
• Reconciling monthly/bimonthly account statements from Brokers and returning comments on queries or agreeing on payment amounts
• Fully investigating all premium queries, whether commission or allocation related
• Maintaining and managing 90+ day debts in line with company targets and goals
• Liaising with Cashiers and other Lines of Business to investigate and assist with Payment Queries and Unallocated Cash
• Providing monthly Parent Statements for selected brokers
• Providing monthly updates for the business on reasons behind larger debts and action plans
• Regular meetings with major brokers and/or Underwriters where required to drive down debt
• Other duties as required to assist the PI Team such as Refunds and Direct Debit defaults

Performance Objectives:

• Demonstrate the ability to work towards agreed goals and targets by following established Credit Control methods, evidenced by examples of regular debt chasing and contact with Brokers and associated parties
• Reduction in debt, particularly with major brokers or top accounts each month
• Exhibit a professional, persistent, and determined approach to Debt Collection

Skills and Experience Specification:

Essential:

• A flexible and professional approach to debt collection and the demands of the business
• Ability to work as part of a wider team and manage own workloads accordingly
• A tenacious approach to reducing overdue premiums

Desirable:

• Experience within a Credit Control and Finance background preferred but not essential as full training and support will be provided
• Previous role in Finance or Credit Control
• Working knowledge of the Insurance industry
