Job Description

Financial Controller | Newark| £80,000

Job Purpose:

Lead the financial team in managing and providing efficient accounting, consolidation, closing, intercompany, and reporting services. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, while meeting service level agreements and key performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting and Reporting:

- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial reports and data integrity.

- Ensure timely and accurate financial closing and reporting activities.

- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.

Financial Analysis and Planning:

- Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reviews.

- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.

- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.

Intercompany and Fixed Assets:

- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.

- Oversee fixed asset accounting and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Tax and Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with VAT and other tax regulations.

- Work closely with the tax team on tax return preparations.

Team Leadership:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants.

- Conduct performance reviews and provide training on best practices.

Process Improvement:

- Identify and implement process improvements for financial operations.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).

- Strong knowledge of financial systems and ERP software.

- Proven experience in financial management and team leadership.

- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
