Payroll Officer
Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous Payroll Officer to join our client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing all statutory payments and deductions in compliance with legislation. Your duties will include calculating salary adjustments, managing final payments for departing employees, and addressing pay discrepancies promptly and efficiently. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of hourly employee wages against the time and attendance system.

Job Description: Payroll Officer
Salary: £22,000-£24,000 based on experience
Hours: Full time - in office
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process payroll accurately and punctually for all employees.
- Calculate statutory deductions, including taxes, National Insurance, and other relevant contributions.
- Manage salary adjustments, back pay, and pro-rata calculations when necessary.
- Handle final payments for departing employees, including accrued holiday entitlement.
- Resolve any payroll discrepancies or queries promptly and efficiently.
- Verify hourly employee pay against the time and attendance system.
- Maintain precise payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrable experience in providing comprehensive payroll support at all levels
- Proficient understanding of PAYE, NI, and statutory components such as SMP, SSP, etc.
- Exceptional administrative and organisational abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks with precision and attention to detail
- Ability to handle high-volume transactions effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel DESIRED SKILLS:
- Familiarity with payroll systems, preferably ITRENT (training provided)
- Confident communication skills, both verbal and written
