Tax Director | Castle Donington | c£120,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus | Hybrid working

Macildowie are currently supporting a local employer of choice. This role will play a crucial part in a dynamic global organization as Tax Director, where you'll spearhead the development and execution of our Group's global tax strategy, ensuring compliance while maximizing tax position . You'll need to have a track record of demonstrating high levels of accountability, be financially astute, with significant experience of statutory accounting and internal/external audit. Able to confidently work with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Tax Strategy & Business Partnering: Craft and communicate tax strategy and policies endorsed by the Board. Partner with business peers to understand functions, risks, and intricacies while maintaining a robust control environment.
  • External Relationships: Foster effective liaison with tax authorities, including HMRC, and external advisers to resolve disputes and anticipate future challenges. Engage in peer discussions to stay abreast of industry best practices.
  • Leadership & Commitments: Lead the Tax team, driving a culture of excellence and championing our organizational ethos. Oversee year-end reporting, compliance management, and team training to ensure continual improvement.
  • Delivering Against Strategy: Consistently execute the Group's tax strategy, ensuring timely submissions, compliance, and fostering positive relationships with tax authorities and advisers.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree; ACCA/ACA or overseas equivalent; Relevant tax qualification (e.g., CTA)
  • Extensive experience in tax laws and regulations, with strong accounting skills (UK GAAP, IFRS)
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in tax function
  • Strong project management skills and ability to build relationships across internal and external stakeholders
  • Familiarity with global tax regulations and experience in core geographies (UK, Germany, US), with exposure to additional regions (China, Latin America) beneficial
  • Experience managing an annual tax budget exceeding £500k, overseeing tax compliance, and navigating international tax landscapes
  • Flexibility for occasional travel and working across multiple time zones
