Job Description

I am delighted to present a unique opportunity to join a global manufacturing/engineering business based in BURTON UPON TRENT as a BUSINESS CONTROLLER / SENIOR FINANCE BUSINESS PARTNER on a 12-14 month FIXED TERM CONTRACT.

The ideal start date would be mid-January, with an end date of MARCH 25. The salary range is £63,000 to £70,000 (dependant on experience) with a 15% BONUS, 28 days holiday (+bank hols) and a very generous pension scheme.

This JOB is HYBRID working, with 5 direct reports and reports directly to the Global Finance Director.

If you are a QUALIFIED ACCOUNTANT (CIMA, ACCA, ACA), with management experience, strong finance business partnering and a broad finance background, then this is the opportunity for you.

A background in manufacturing is desirable but not essential, if all other boxes are ticked.

SYNOPSIS OF THE ROLE:

An exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in propelling a growth strategy. Reporting to the Global Finance Director, your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the Finance function of a crucial site, with exposure extending to the broader Division, Business Area, and beyond.

Your primary objective is to offer real-time support and analysis, serving as a trusted advisor and providing value to facilitate decision-making processes. Key to your success will be the adeptness to comprehend the needs of stakeholders and convey information in a clear and user-friendly manner.

This role is distinctly that of a business partner, requiring an individual with an energetic personality, at ease with disseminating financial data and knowledge to mentor peers and contribute to team development. A proactive involvement in problem-solving across the business landscape is also expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Interface actively between Finance and Operations, influencing day-to-day decisions, shaping strategy, and steering the business's direction.
  2. Demonstrate commercial awareness by understanding and anticipating the needs of both operations and management.
  3. Drive the unit towards continuous improvement through effective finance management and communication of key performance results.
  4. Interpret data, assess its value, and present findings concisely to relevant stakeholders.
  5. Form and stand over recommendations, upholding a well-developed sense of ethics.
  6. Challenge, coach, and motivate team members, identifying and winning over key stakeholders to achieve Divisional objectives.
  7. Lead a multi-site Finance team in partnering principles through continuous appraisal, feedback, and development.
  8. Act as a key liaison with the UK shared service, providing ongoing feedback to ensure value addition to the business.
  9. Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant policies and reporting timescales, organising resources for timely and accurate completion of internal and external reporting requirements.
  10. Collaborate with the Compliance function to maintain and improve internal controls, ensuring the safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial information.

Requirements:

  1. Proven track record of successful performance management, continuous improvement of your team, and positive contributions to peer development.
  2. Degree-level education with an accounting qualification, preferably CIMA; ACCA or ACA qualifications considered for candidates demonstrating an excellent match in experience.
  3. At least five years of post-qualified experience in relevant business partner positions with exposure to various operational functions (Sales, R&D, lifecycle, and supply chain).
  4. Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Effective use of ERP systems.
  6. Highly commercial and influential, with demonstrated business partnering and leadership skills.
