Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Finance to join our team and lead the finance function of a diverse and intertwined business portfolio consisting of over 20 companies. Reporting to the CEO and Board, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial management across the company.

This role is as much about the "right fit" as it is about the person specification. It is essential that you are both personable and have a sleeves-rolled-up approach. The finance office is busy and can be hectic at times but is very well established.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a dedicated finance team, offering coaching and guidance as needed.
  • Formulate and execute financial strategies and systems that align with the growth objectives of our diverse business portfolio.
  • Ensure the accuracy and punctuality of financial reporting, encompassing the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all business entities.
  • Oversee payroll and HR functions, including the meticulous approval of weekly and monthly payrolls across the entire organization.
  • Manage trade debtors and creditors, maintaining a keen eye on financial balances.
  • Uphold meticulous standards for VAT treatment, record-keeping, and the timely submission of statutory returns.
  • Develop, monitor, and refine budgets and cash-flow forecasts, proactively identifying trends and areas of improvement to enhance overall financial performance.
  • Advocate for adherence to financial protocols, strategically managing procurement processes.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assume key authorities involving banking, licenses, HMRC liaison, card payment facilities, and trading platforms.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with other departments, contributing financial expertise to cross-functional initiatives and projects.
  • Take a pivotal role in evaluating new projects, providing invaluable financial insights to support the decision-making process of the CEO and advisory teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience within SME and diverse business portfolios.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with a deep understanding of financial principles and concepts.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing financial operations and delivering results
