Management Accountant (QBE) | Alfreton - North Derbyshire | £30,000 - £35,000

Macildowie Finance is currently working on a position offering the opportunity to work for a leading business, based in Alfreton, Derbyshire and this company is well established and has sites over the East Midlands.

Recruiting for a Management Accountant, you won't need to be fully qualified for this (AAT and lots of experience is absolutely fine) , this job within a small team will report to the Financial Controller and will be responsible for managing financial operations, analysing financial data, assisting with budgeting and forecasting as well as presenting financial reports. You will need to possess excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a small finance team to meet deadlines.

The role is part of a small finance team, but requires an element of 'hands on' accounting to get into the detail. This new role will take some duties away from the Finance Manager.

What is the job?

· Crafting monthly journals to address missing invoices, known costs, prepayments, and HR payroll needs, injecting precision into financial records.

· Spearheading the preparation of inter-company sales/invoices for recharges, meticulously ensuring monthly eliminations for seamless accounts.

· Meeting contractual deadlines with finesse, taking charge of submitting monthly management accounts and balance sheet schedules, reflecting a commitment to timeliness and accuracy.

· Infusing life into financial data by providing vibrant variance analysis and insightful commentary, collaborating closely with operational teams to guarantee precise reporting.

· Preparing income statements, balance sheets, and other financial documents, translating numbers into narratives.

· Proactively identifying and addressing problem areas, presenting strategic recommendations to company management for continuous improvement.

· Weekly payment runs, ensuring suppliers are promptly and accurately remunerated.

· Cash management for respective companies, ensuring liquidity and fiscal resilience.

· Playing a pivotal role in supporting the weekly self-billing process, demonstrating a commitment to streamlined and efficient financial operations.

· Company expenses including mileage payments, expenses payments, and meticulous reconciliation of company credit cards across the business.

· Providing cover for the Purchase Ledger as needed and taking on any additional reporting requirements that may arise with enthusiasm and expertise.

Good interpersonal communication skills, such as written, oral and persuasive communication abilities.

  • Knowledge of Tax and group reporting would be advantageous
  • Good maths and computer skills especially MS Excel and Hyperion
  • Analytical and logical problem solving skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • An ability to explain complex financial information in a clear way
  • Honesty and discretion
  • Able to work within a company with a close relationship to the wider business
  • Qualified by Experience (minimum AAT qualified)
