Senior Payroll Officer | East Midlands | £31,000 - £34,000

Macildowie are delighted to be partnering with a nearby educational organisation on Senior Payroll Officer opportunity on a permanent basis. They have a long time serving member of the team moving on for a career change so this offers an opportunity to inherit a stable position.

Please note prior public sector/ not for profit experience is not a requirement, they are open to individuals of any sector background.

They are a great organisation to work for with a positive culture and you will have opportunities to grow and develop within this role. They operate with a bureau model with the council and so the onus on manual calculations will be lesser and it is more so around the flow of information in from the academies into the bureau.

It is a busy department and they want an individual who has the desire to be a part of developing and improving processes not simply accepting the status quo and "ticking over".

Benefits

  • Paying c£31,000 - £35,000 - dependent on experience
  • 37 hours per week (unable to accommodate part time)
  • Hybrid working - 2 days in the office, 3 from home - can work more in the office if wanted
  • 22% employer pension contribution - Local Government Pension Scheme
  • 35 days annual leave including bank holiday

Payroll Lead Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the accurate processing of payroll inputs, including resolving payroll queries across the organisation
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the payroll bureau to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee's payroll
  • Processing starters, leavers and P45's to ensure deadlines are met
  • Leading on the preparation of payroll audits, both internally and externally
  • Producing payroll reports for stakeholders to support the monitoring of budgets across the organisation
  • Actively seeking to improve payroll processes and offering suggestions for new ways of working to offer continuous improvements

Minimum Requirements

  • Good understanding of payroll with minimum 2.5 year's experience within a payroll specific role with volumes greater than 150 heads
  • Understanding and experience of starters and leavers, working with P45's and making the relevant deductions
  • Experience working with excel - basic manipulation and formula
